Your kitchen rocks: Basil, Mint, Rosemary, and Dill

Okay, the combination doesn’t quite sound like the song, but they are my favorite herbs and appealing for a kitchen garden.  Fresh herbs add depth and delicacy to dishes, and growing your own is a lot simpler than you think.

A kitchen herb garden is a delightful way to bring the outdoors in. Begin by choosing a sunny spot and a few small pots. Choose herbs that you use regularly and that you enjoy in your food. Fill your pot with potting mix, plant your seeds, and water thoroughly. Viola!

The fun begins when you watch your creations grow, and the good news is that the more your prune them (to add to your recipes), the more they will produce. Did you know there is a little trick to water your plants while away for a week? Fill a small gravel tray with water and place your herb pots on top.
