Would You Volunteer as a Foster Grandparent?

You’ve honed skills over many decades. Whether you have a gift for teaching, tutoring, or working with children with special needs, there is a place for you to give back. Maybe your gift is sharing love. Most seniors easily fit the first requirement to be a foster grandparent by being at least 55! The AmeriCorps Seniors Foster Grandparent Program provides a real opportunity for you to make a big difference is someone’s life while also enriching yours.

Offering a few hours a week can be as rewarding for you as it is for those to whom you connect. Staying active in your community creates an increased sense of belonging and allows you to stay mentally and physically active. You’ll establish new relationships with other seniors doing the same thing you are. What’s not to love?

There may be children waiting for you who are starving for attention. Often time is the best gift you can give. Helping any child improve their academic, social, or emotional development is a gift that keeps on giving.

A foster grandparent receives a small stipend and mileage reimbursement. It’s not a money maker to be a foster grandparent, but you will feel rich in sharing your love with others.

Read HERE to learn how to sign up and the eligibility requirements. Your community will be forever grateful.
