Why Seniors Move to Sweden in Retirement

If you are looking for a place that is a role model for senior living, look no further than Sweden. You won’t have any trouble finding friends since twenty percent of the residents are over 65, and Sweden has top ranking for longest in life expectancy. You and your new friends will have years to enjoy each other.

The residency requirements are pretty easy since you merely apply for a permanent residency permit. As long as you live in the country for five years after your application, you are legal. If you have a partner who is a Swedish resident, then you only have to wait three years.

Aging-in-place is a viable option. About 94 percent of people over 65 live at home and receive assistance from the government to maintain their independence. Their national policy wants seniors to have the luxury of growing old securely while living actively within society, among other things.
