Dogs as a Seniors’ Best Friend

The wonder of wonders, the American Heart Association released a study showing that owning or interacting with dogs can help prevent heart disease! Dog owners know that the companionship of a pooch is a surefire way to bring a smile to their face, but now your dog will help you avoid an early demise. Those smiles will continue for years beyond your planned exit.

Who can feel lonely or isolated with a furry friend at your side? The friendship of a dog can alleviate the loss of a spouse or children who moved away. Plus, they don’t complain or talk back to you! A tail-wagger will pull you off the couch and demand a walk. Can you find a better way to log a day of exercise? And if your days require more sedentary workouts, simply petting or grooming your pet can work out arthritic pain in your hands and arms. Nothing requires more mental acuity than researching what may ail your dog and then finding a solution and knowing you were the one to save the day.
