Keep, Donate, Thrash, Sell, or Gift

If you have a mere 45 extra minutes today, why not begin downsizing? You don’t plan to move for several years? Perfect! You’ll have time to take a project that could be hugely stressful, and make it fun instead. Since you don’t have a deadline to meet, you can reminisce over found objects from decades ago. You can begin with your tiniest closet or your guest bathroom and spend 45 minutes a day for a week until it’s complete. Viola! What an accomplishment.

Pull out a box of long-lost items and grab a pen and a sticky note pad. Label each item to keep, donate, throw out, sell, or gift. Even make up a label of your own with a question mark: I have no idea what to do with this! Delaying some decisions is necessary.

Some people believe that selling items is nothing but a hassle, while others find it fun. If you were to sell multiple small items on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist, you could take the proceeds and splurge on a dinner out to reward yourself for one more closet cleaned out!
