Simplifying meditation and aromatherapy

As you may have already read in this article, aromatherapy and meditation have numerous benefits including physical and mental health. For someone like me, juggling with day to day tasks, it feels like I barely have the time to do either properly. Luckily, over time, I found somewhat of a loophole! 

When it comes to meditation, I found out what I’ve known all along – every single person is different. I knew people could have different mantras and hums, but I was always told that you had to meditate in certain positions. One day, someone told me that I could meditate anywhere, anytime, any position I wanted – and it changed my life. 

Sitting still is not my strong suit. For this reason, I put off meditation for years. I always thought I just couldn’t do it. Even if I could sit still, my thoughts were always racing and it was nearly impossible to clear my head. Are you ready for the loophole? One, two, three, four, in. One, two, three, four, out. One, two, three, four, in. One, two, three, four, out. Over and over again! That’s it! I bet you never knew meditation could be so simple. Now I meditate in the car, during my morning stretches, at night when I’m trying to sleep, even when I go for a hike. Hopefully this works for you too. 

As far as aromatherapy, you can simplify that as well. I used to have a collection of essential oils and pick out whichever one I felt I needed at that time, but now it feels like I just don’t have time for that anymore. It’s become all about the little things for me. Choosing candles for each room is so much fun and there are always so many options. Similar to how the color of a room can affect your mood, so can the fragrance! All the way down to what deodorant or perfume I’m wearing for the day – I always have options so that the fragrance really does impact my mood. 

Don’t be afraid to switch it up, and especially don’t hesitate to simplify things!
