#5 Summer Mocktail: Grapefruit Paloma with Health Benefits

Vitamin C can be consumed in all sorts of delicious ways such as this refreshing favorite during these hot summer months! Grab some grapefruit during your next grocery store run, and be prepared to get that vacation feeling…

Grapefruit Paloma

One of my favorite drinks, this Paloma is just as good as the traditional one. If you don’t want the trouble of freshly squeezing some grapefruit, there are plenty of grapefruit juice options to buy at your local grocery store but splurge for good quality! Mix the grapefruit juice in a glass with some fresh squeezed lime (about a 3:1 or 4:1 ratio based on your taste), and add just a dash of real maple syrup if you’d like to kick the sweetness up a notch.  Stir until the flavors mix together, and pour over ice with enough room for club soda. After topping it with club soda, gently stir to mix it up. To turn this into a cocktail, add a shot of tequila before pouring over ice. Add a slice of lime or grapefruit to garnish.

Grapefruits are rich in antioxidants, support heart health, aid in blood sugar management, and promote better brain function. Lime juice also contains antioxidants, as well as reduces inflammation, helps protect you from infection, and speeds up your body’s healing process. Surprisingly enough, even pure maple syrup has health benefits! High in antioxidants and full of nutrients like riboflavin, zinc, magnesium, calcium and potassium. A great alternative sweetener.
