If you “change your mind like a girl changes clothes” perhaps that’s a good sign… Timothy Leary made the “flexibility of thought” a cornerstone of his work in psychology. The major point he makes is to remain flexible and willing to change our minds which gives us room to grow and expand our perspective – which can lead to a more fulfilling life. This definitely doesn’t need to stop as we grow older. We have more experiences to weigh as we consider changing our minds on new approaches to life whether it is watching our adult children raise their own, or perhaps it’s finding a way to understand cryptocurrency or new modes of travel. There is no shortage of opportunities to put this into practice, and it may sometimes be more challenging if you believe your lifetime of experiences means your way is the only way. So many wise icons throughout history have known the benefit of at least trying to understand new perspectives and ways of doing things that are foreign to our own methods. In any case, the flexibility of thought, and trying to understand new things will keep you “as young as the last time you changed your mind”, so here’s to the fountain of youth!
