Downsizing with Ease

Whether you are moving to assisted living or a smaller home, downsizing will most likely be part of the plan. If you lived in your current residence for decades, the challenge might appear daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. You learned HERE about the benefits of a senior move manager, but there are also ways to ease into the move if you want to tackle it on your own.

A move to a new location could create homesickness for what you left behind. So, begin by bringing those cherished items with you, even if they don’t fit the look of your new abode. Having the familiar around you will ease anxiety as you transition. The key is to make your smaller living quarters feel like home.

The good news is that you may not have to keep the vacuum cleaner, mops, and brooms if your new facility includes housekeeping. Have three boxes on hand to sort those items you’ll take with you, those to give to your family members, and the things meant for charity. Start with your least used room and organize as you go.

Read HERE for helpful tips for downsizing. Before you know it, you’ll be waving goodbye to begin a new chapter in your life.
