Will it be Golf, Archery, or Walking Soccer?

Don’t underestimate the value of sports for seniors. With any aerobic activity, muscle mass increases when you are out and moving. As you become stronger, you will be more likely to avoid falls and recover more quickly from those that occur. And today, there are many low-impact sports from which to choose, even if your goals may no longer be a varsity letter at the end of the year.

Golf is excellent not only for your body but for your mind. As you walk from hole to hole (or even from golf cart to tee), you are getting a cardio workout even as you grit your teeth due to another missed shot. The planning, memorization, and coordination demanded of your mind will help keep you sharp.

Have you picked up a bow since summer camp? Archery is excellent for upper body strength and flexibility. Your cognitive skills will improve since it demands precise movements and strong hand-eye coordination.

How many soccer practices did you watch while your children had all the fun? Walking soccer is a new emerging sport for seniors as described  HERE to this article. Your cardiovascular health and coordination will be in full gear without overexerting your body.
