Sriracha Honey Chicken & Waffles

This Sriracha Honey Chicken & Waffles dish combines the perfect balance of sweet, spicy, and savory flavors. It's a unique twist on the classic chicken and waffles that's sure to satisfy your taste buds and elevate your gameday experience.

Ingredients
  

For the Chicken
  • 4 boneless chicken tenders
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • vegetable oil, for frying
For the Waffles
  • Frozen or homemade waffles quantity as desired
For the Sriracha Honey Drizzle
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tsp Sriracha sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • pinch of salt

Method
 

  1. season the chicken tenders with salt and black pepper
  2. place the chicken tenders in a bowl and cover them with buttermilk, allow them to marinate for at least 30 minutes (or up to 24 hours in the refrigerator
  3. prepare the waffles according to the package instructions or your preferred waffle recipe
  4. coat and fry the chicken: in a shallow dish mix together the flour and seasonings
  5. remove the chicken tenders from the buttermilk and let the excess drip off
  6. dredge the chicken tenders in the flour mixture, ensuring they are evenly coated
  7. in a deep skillet or pot, heat vegetable oil to 350F (175C) for frying
  8. carefully place the coated chicken tenders in the hot oil and fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side
  9. transfer the fried chicken tenders to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil
  10. in a small bowl, whisk together honey, Sriracha sauce, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt to create the drizzle
  11. place a cooked chicken tender on top of a warm waffle
  12. drizzle the Sriracha honey mixture over the chicken and waffle
  13. serve the Chicken and Waffles immediately, allowing the sweet and spicy flavors to complement each other
  14. for extra flavor, you can also serve it with a side of coleslaw or fresh greens
